From first enquiry to handover, here's exactly what happens

Building a rural shed should be simple and well managed. We take care of the entire process - from design, engineering and approvals through to earthworks, slab, construction and handover. Your project is managed in-house by one experienced local team, giving you a clear point of responsibility from start to finish.

Typical timeline: Most residential sheds and garages run about 8–14 weeks from accepted quote to handover. Council approval timing is the biggest variable - larger commercial and rural buildings, or jobs needing a siting relaxation, can take longer.

  1. 01Week 1

    Enquiry & design

Tell us what you need, or start by creating your own concept in our 3D Shed Designer. We’ll then work through the building size, span, height, access, doors, cladding and intended use to develop a design that suits your property and requirements.

  2. 02Week 1–2

    Detailed quote

We prepare a detailed, site-specific quote based on your proposed design and property - not a generic kit price. It considers the engineering, wind classification, slab requirements, site conditions and access needed to deliver the complete build.

  3. 03Week 2–4

    Engineering & certification

Once you’re happy to proceed, we prepare the site-specific engineering and construction documentation for your building and coordinate the required building certification to suit your property, design and wind classification.

  4. 04Typically 2–6 weeks

    Council approval

Where council approval is required, we prepare, lodge and manage the application through to decision. This may include matters relating to boundary setbacks, building size or height, amenity and aesthetics.

  5. 05Week 4–8

    Fabrication & delivery

Your BlueScope® steel structural frame is fabricated with heavy-duty welded steel plate connections, while all other materials and components are sourced, manufactured and prepared to suit your approved design, specifications and selected COLORBOND® finishes.

  6. 062–4 weeks on site

    Slab & construction

Our own tradesmen carry out the earthworks and slab preparation and pour, before moving through structural frame erection, cladding, doors, flashings and final building components. The construction phase is managed in-house from slab through to completion.

  7. 07Final week

    Handover

We complete the final inspection and site clean-up, then provide the relevant certification and project documentation for your records. With everything signed off and complete, your new building is ready to use, enjoy and put to work.

What are the council ruleswhere you're building?

Boundary setbacks, height limits, site cover and wind classification all change the size of machinery shed you can put on your block. Pick your region for a plain-English summary of the council and Queensland Development Code rules - including the actual numbers. We handle the approvals, certification and any relaxations in-house.

Rural shed FAQ

How wide can a machinery shed be without internal posts?

Clear spans depend on wind region, door loads and column size. We commonly build clear-span rural sheds up to 24 metres wide and can engineer wider with the right column and portal frame design.

Do you build on farm sites outside Bundaberg?

Yes. We travel throughout the Wide Bay, Fraser Coast, Gladstone Region and North Burnett for rural builds, and we supply shed kits Australia-wide with phone support for owner builders.

Can you add a workshop or office into a machinery shed?

Yes. We can incorporate enclosed workshops, amenities, offices and mezzanine storage into the same building envelope.
