The Spartan Shedsbuild process
No guesswork and no runaround. Here's every stage of a Spartan Sheds™ build across Bundaberg and the Wide Bay, what we handle for you, and roughly how long each step takes.
From first enquiry to handover, here's exactly what happens
Building a shed should be simple and well managed. We take care of the entire process - from design, engineering and approvals through to earthworks, slab, construction and handover. Your project is managed in-house by one experienced local team, giving you a clear point of responsibility from start to finish.
Typical timeline: Most residential sheds and garages run about 8–14 weeks from accepted quote to handover. Council approval timing is the biggest variable - larger commercial and rural buildings, or jobs needing a siting relaxation, can take longer.
- 01Week 1
Enquiry & design
Tell us what you need, or start by creating your own concept in our 3D Shed Designer. We’ll then work through the building size, span, height, access, doors, cladding and intended use to develop a design that suits your property and requirements.
- Site address, access and intended use
- Roof style: gable, skillion / flat or dutch gable
- COLORBOND® colour selections for roof, walls, trims and doors
- 02Week 1–2
Detailed quote
We prepare a detailed, site-specific quote based on your proposed design and property - not a generic kit price. It considers the engineering, wind classification, slab requirements, site conditions and access needed to deliver the complete build.
- Itemised inclusions so you can compare apples with apples
- Slab, earthworks and site works allowances
- Free of charge preliminary quote with no obligation
- 03Week 2–4
Engineering & certification
Once you’re happy to proceed, we prepare the site-specific engineering and construction documentation for your building and coordinate the required building certification to suit your property, design and wind classification.
- Building engineered to your specific site
- Footing design to suit your soil classification
- Certifier engaged and documentation prepared in-house
- 04Typically 2–6 weeks
Council approval
Where council approval is required, we prepare, lodge and manage the application through to decision. This may include matters relating to boundary setbacks, building size or height, amenity and aesthetics.
- Application lodged and tracked by us
- Relaxations for setbacks, height or site cover handled in-house
- Timing depends on your council's workload and whether a relaxation is required
- 05Week 4–8
Fabrication & delivery
Your BlueScope® steel structural frame is fabricated with heavy-duty welded steel plate connections, while all other materials and components are sourced, manufactured and prepared to suit your approved design, specifications and selected COLORBOND® finishes.
- 100% Australian BlueScope® steel
- Custom flashings measured and made to suit your shed
- Materials scheduled to land as your slab cures
- 062–4 weeks on site
Slab & construction
Our own tradesmen carry out the earthworks and slab preparation and pour, before moving through structural frame erection, cladding, doors, flashings and final building components. The construction phase is managed in-house from slab through to completion.
- Earthworks, formwork, reinforcement and concrete pour
- Frame erected, clad, flashed and doors fitted
- Same team from quote through to the last screw
- 07Final week
Handover
We complete the final inspection and site clean-up, then provide the relevant certification and project documentation for your records. With everything signed off and complete, your new building is ready to use, enjoy and put to work.
- Certifier's final inspection
- Warranty and compliance documentation
- Walk-through and keys
